Who I am

I am an English/ESL consultant specializing in SAT writing skills, advanced grammar, essay writing, Ivy League Admissions , and MBA consulting. I guarantee your marks will improve significantly in one semester.
I showed a passion and aptitude for English as a child, and learned to read as a toddler. Having won English awards throughout school, I was the youngest person admitted to Banff School of Fine Arts at age seventeen, and fortunate to have Alice Monro, Margaret Atwood and Irving Layton as faculty that summer. After being published in The Morningside Papers, my piece stirred the interest of the late Peter Gzowski, who interviewed me on Morningside radio. My poems can be found in Grain magazine, CVii, and the Muskeg Review.

In my early twenties, I travelled extensively in Asia and Europe, and taught myself Greek while living in Greece.  Communicating in other languages gave me such joy that I studied Archeology, French, and Classics, and completed a degree in Applied Linguistics.  I later did an advanced teaching diploma (R.S.A) in England.

Over the past fifteen years, I have worked at a variety of Colleges and Universities including Cariboo University, St Michaels University School, and U.B.C.  I have assisted refugees and immigrants as well as highly gifted scholars.

In addition to designing academic curricula, I have my own tutoring business, and create custom programs based on a student’s gifts and strengths to build confidence. Above all, my curiosity about other cultures enables me to promote intercultural understanding and awareness.

I am currently finishing a collection of poems, and working on “Biscotti Bites,” a humorous reflection on trips to Buenos Aires and New York.  Connecting to people and places is my passion, along with tango, the ultimate communication.
