Inventing words

My student and I came up with a new word the other day: GNOTCHE. This is a teeth grinding mistake. I gnotched the test- I blew it, I wrecked everything. I like the gn- sound which trips over itself -stumbling in my mouth to imitate the way a person who has blundered feels. The verb is gnotched but the noun would be a gnotche. What a gnotche last night was! My friend forgot we were going to the opera and never showed up. Sounds like someone botched it up. I usually giver students bones points for creating new words for language is an evolving creature.
